WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) today condemned the attacks against the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, the U.S. Consulate in Libya, and the killing of four American diplomats in Libya, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens:

“The vicious and senseless attacks in Libya that claimed the lives of four Americans are an outrage that cannot be tolerated. American service members risked their lives last year to protect the Libyan people from a murderous dictator. It is unconscionable that our efforts in Libya would be disregarded in such a way.

“The events in Libya and Egypt were both unprovoked – there is no justification for killing innocent people, threatening American Foreign Service officers, and desecrating our flag.

“My prayers are with the families of the Americans lost. We all owe the members of the Foreign Service our gratitude for serving our country in harm’s way.”
